The Mission Statement

By:  Larry Snyder

**************************************************************************************************************

To serve each other by promoting good health, well-being, and the opportunity for an abundant life.

In the initial installment of this series, I made the bold statement that I had found “The Last business you will ever build”.  In this section, I am going to review the Mission Statement because the Mission Statement provides not only a standard to measure by, but also hints as to why this is “The Last business you will ever build”.

17 simple words, Powerful, Clear, Solid, Accurate and… yes, simple.   Let’s take it apart and see how complex it truly is.  After if you are to believe in this business, you have to have absolute faith in this Company and the people who run the Day-to-Day function.  I feel that there if not a better initial way to learn where a company has their heart than to dissect the Mission Statement.

To Serve – what does that mean to you?  To me, that means I am doing for another, and since is it service, I am not concerned with profit or earning or “what’s in it for me” mental equivocation.  No, I am only focused on my service to another.

Each Other – defines who we are serving – notice we are not serving just our down line, or up line or customers – no, we are serving each other, that means we are all serving all.  Up line serving down line – how far down?  All the way down – there is no true bottom.  Because of the flexibility we have to structure our organizations, there is no bottom level.  Further more, we help up line, down line and cross line – and it is welcomed!

By Promoting – not fast talk selling or hyper marketing, or any of the “techniques” that will make you “rich” overnight.  No, we promote – talk about, share the personal results of and support the use of our products, leading to WELLNESS.

Good Health, Well Being – What do you consider “good” health?  Let’s just look at Health – the state of physical, mental and emotional well being that is devoid of pain, anxiety, worry, injury, and/or illness.  Ok, so how about this “wellbeing” thing.  Well, it is very difficult to articulate here, but it is a generalized peace with the world.

And the Opportunity for Abundant Life – Yes, you read correctly – there is not a single word that attempts to modify or limit the human species – it is simple – “And the opportunity for ABUNDANT life” applies to everyone on the earth.

It is easy to dismiss these words as mere words on a page, but as you are around the people that make up the corporate identity and the people that make up the Marketing Executive identity, you will find: At every turn, this mission statement is lived, at every decision point this mission statement is the template for serious decisions, and at every moment, these words, simple as they are, govern the total id of who we, the humans of Freelife, choose to be.

I like to relate examples of things that are intangible, things like our living mission statement in action.  Here is a recent story and I doubt that the people involved even consciously realized what they were doing.

At our recent Serve 07 Conference in Orlando Fl. We had the largest crowd we have ever assembled.  It was estimated at over 4300 people.    Registration started at 9am, but the line started forming early.  By 10am, I realized that the line was barely moving, and now, we had the better part of 4300 people standing in one huge line.

I noticed one of the Staffers asking one of the hotel staff for some serving trays – but it didn’t register as to why.  The why became evident shortly, as several dozen staffers started patrolling the line with trays loaded with ice cold Himalayan Goji Juice.

As sometimes happens, IT had a catastrophic failure and could only get 2 printers to come on line.  Considering each of us had a Name badge to be printed, that tended to slow things down.  Now in some instances, you would have heard people complaining or griping or just venting and the staff of the positions that were not working, would have been off in a ready room, out of the sight of the line.  Not in this line….oh sure, there was the odd grousing, but by and far we were just happy to be with each other and took the opportunity to meet new friends.

The Staffers, who could have been else where, were out in front – providing juice, communicating updates, smiling, and being part of the total team.  They served, they promoted good health and well being and certainly provided the opportunity for a more abundant life.

I personally feel richer for the experience.  Not in a monetary way, but in a secure, confident way.  I am abundantly aware of whom Freelife is and I am very proud to be building a business with a company who exists to serve each other by promoting good health, well-being, and the opportunity for an abundant life.

Next installment – Who is at the helm of this ship anyway?

3 Quick and Easy Ways to Build a Profitable Opt-in List

3 Quick and Easy Ways to Build a Profitable Opt-in List

Okay... you finally realize you need a good opt-in list to succeed online. After reading countless articles and seeking an untold number of experts advice, and after having read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists, you've finally decide to bite the bullet and build a list of your own.

Then it happens. You think you know everything there is to know about opt-in lists and have followed the guru's advice to the T. But you still aren't able to make a profit. In fact, you may even be losing money. Maybe you've hired writers, or have incurred other expenses. Maybe you've even have a big list, but only a very small percentage actually buy from you. Any way you look at it, you're losing profit.

It only takes a few months of watching your site statistics and sales figures to recognize that fact. So what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded and you have failed? The most common mistake is that you dived in too fast. You chose a topic where you thought you could be quite popular and that would earn you money. This simply hasn't proven to be the case. Just because you contacted the people on your list with your offer(s) doesn't mean they are going to buy from you instantly.

As you've probably already discovered. If you're just getting starting, or have started an opt-in list and have failed, here are three quick and easy ways to rejuvenate your floundering venture and build a truly profitable opt-in list:

1. Teach your customers to trust you and your products. Just launching your opt-in list won't not make you an expert and a believable seller. Offer your customers free information and helpful advice first, before you ever start an opt-in list. Of if you already have your list, begin NOW to provide them with free quality content they can use. Select a topic you know well and one that complements your website content and begin writing and publishing articles so people will come to respect you and your advice. Use discussion forums first to gain knowledge about your customers, about their wants and needs, and target those wants and needs through your articles. In addition, offer helpful advice and input on the forums you frequent. Help people get to know you as a member of the online community. Provide expert advice and recommendations, then when you feel that people trust you, you will be ready to start your opt-in list or focus on the list you already have. Build a marketing base with other forum users. Ask them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your site so they can see what your business is all about. It's a fact that money will only come when consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. They want a product or service that will be a good exchange for their money. They're not going to buy something based on your recommendation if they don't know you.

2. Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have researched and learned about well, you can carry it forward. Invest your time, effort and money in something you can sell as well as offering your customers and subscribers something they can use. While it's true that the BEST item to sell is something you have a personal interest in, there may not be that many people who have the same interest as you. If you decide to sell something that's not entirely popular or profitable, research it well. Discover where you can make a profit. And provide your subscribers with promotional material they can actually use to spread the word about your product, too.

3. Make friends with other list owners. This is especially beneficial if it is with someone who has already launched a large, successful opt-in list. These are people who have the experience in this area, and experience is still the best teacher. While there are many articles on the Internet available for you to read and learn from, there is nothing like getting a first hand account from someone you trust. Experienced opt-in list owners will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have likely done it all. While different situations occur for different people, the general concept can still be very helpful. There are many things to avoid and experienced list owners will be able to tell you which ones so you don't waste time on tactics that don't work. Building a profitable opt-in list don't just happen overnight. Many preparations and much effort is required. Good opt-in lists are built from scratch, so as your list grows, be sure to maintain the quality of your list. Keep it organized and manageable. Hire help if need be, but make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied and they will be willing to buy from you as time goes on.
